Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Who has not at one time suffered with the common cold? Most likely just about everyone, since the viruses responsible for the common cold are all over our environment. If you are right now suffering a cold here is a Home Remedy to soothe your cold and flu symptoms. The blend contains herbs that fight viruses and bacteria. It has been used traditionally to boost immunity and lessen the discomfort of a cold or flu:

2 ¼ teaspoons Yarrow leaves and flowers
2 ¼ teaspoons Elder flowers
2 ¼ teaspoons Echinacea leaves
1 ¼ Peppermint leaves
3 cups hot water

Place all of the herbs but the peppermint leaves in the water and simmer for ten minutes, covered. Remove from heat and add the peppermint leaves. Steep for ten more minutes with other herbs, covered. Strain and discard herbs. Take up to three cups of tea per day. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.

* If you are on any medication ask your health care provider for possible interaction with herbs
