The knowledge of the use of herbs in the prevention and treatment of disease goes back to the beginning of time. A systematic study of plant life first began among the ancient Egyptians and Greeks. Hippocrates was the first man who practiced medicine as an art. He was a Greek physician who lived about the fourth century BC. In his writings, Hippocrates described many medicinal plants. Those who followed Hippocrates made a more systematic study and classification of plants and their uses as medicine

Herbs can be an effective agent in disease prevention as well as assisting nature in her healing process. Plant medicines have stood the test of time for longer than the scalpel, antibiotics and vaccines. Man can never excel Nature in medicine manufacture, for she makes the best ones.

The aim of this page is to help newcomers to herbs to discover the wonder of herbal medicine. And for those who already possess herbal knowledge it may help to strengthen their faith and pride in this great and ancient form of healing.
